Representatives from the American Legion Burton Woolery Post 18, Laurens B. Strain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 604, Monroe County Veterans Services and Bloomington Parks and Recreation dedicated a new bench in Switchyard Park on July 10, 2025. The “988 Bench” overlooking the wetland area in the middle of Switchyard Park is intended to help connect park visitors with mental health resources in times of crisis. Funding for the bench was provided by the Bloomington Parks Foundation.
