The Bloomington Parks Foundation on Sept. 25, 2024 unveiled an honorary bench purchased in honor of long-time Parks and Recreation Department Administrator Paula McDevitt.

The bench is located next to Jackson Creek, on the Jackson Creek Trail approximately one-half mile south of Sherwood Oaks Park. McDevitt and her family are frequent visitors to the Jackson Creek Trail.

“I am so honored to be given this legacy, and I have already heard from many friends that ‘my’ bench is located on the most beautiful place along the Jackson Creek Trail,” McDevitt said at a Bloomington Parks Foundation gathering at the bench. “I sincerely thank the Bloomington Parks Foundation for your contributions that made this bench, for use by all, possible.”

McDevitt retired from the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department following a career spanning more than 35 years.
