The Double Market Bucks Program at the Community Farmers’ Market will again be funded for a second year in 2014 thanks to a $30,000 grant from a private foundation!

This valuable program allows SNAP customers to use their SNAP dollars and receive a match from the Parks Foundation of double Market Bucks up to $18. This program allows people experiencing food insecurity to shop for local produce, meat, breads, and cheese, receiving double the amount they could otherwise receive by just using their SNAP money. Healthy eating leads to a healthy lifestyle, so this increases the benefit to those who need it most by encouraging consumption of fresh foods and, in many cases, exposing families to healthy food choices. The Parks Foundation is proud to do our part in improving access to healthy, fresh food for those in need, and at the same time, improving the revenue stream to farmers.

Gifts made in 2014 to our Friends of the Farmer’s Market Fund will go to support the Double Market Bucks Program, so please consider being a part of this direct and effective effort to improve lives.
